Member of the Month September 2012
The Berne Chamber of Commerce is delighted to award Golf Club of the Limberlost with our Member of the Month honor for September. The golf course has undergone some changes over the past several years under direction of Director of Golf Operations (The “DOG”) Rod Ashman. The Chamber is pleased to highlight the GCL’s (Golf Club of the Limberlost) accomplishments and contributions to our community.
Bent grass fairways, white sand bunkers, smooth fast greens and a 14 acre practice facility, the Golf Club of the Limberlost offers the best golf experience in the area. GCL has been identified as "Best kept secret in Northern Indiana" by Golf Digest.
Director of Golf Operations, Rod Ashman, takes great pride in the accomplishments and recognition GCL has received in the past several years. Several years ago Rod took a big chance and changed the fairways to Bent grass much like expensive country clubs and private clubs use. The improvements to the fairways along with the addition of Membership options for individuals and corporations have given GLC a reputation for a great round of golf. The course can also be used for outings with event options to suit any needs. The Chamber outing has been held there for many years and everyone has a wonderful time!
Rod also encourages you to enjoy their brand new, 14 acre, driving range and practice facility! Hit balls off of the newly seeded bent grass hitting surface. They also have a putting green, and bent grass chipping surface to perfect your short game.
Rod Ashman, Director of Golf Operations, along with Mike Wynn full time staff and 12 part time employees work tirelessly all season long to ensure the course is ready for play. Their season does not have a set open and closed time, the weather plays a vital role in how long a season will be. Regardless of the weather you can shop in the Clubhouse till Christmas to get the perfect gift for your golfer or for yourself. Membership can be purchased for next year now.
