Berne is located in northeastern Indiana, 35 miles south of Ft. Wayne and 110 miles northeast of Indianapolis at the intersection of SR218 and US27. The friendly Swiss community of Berne invites you to travel the streets settled by Swiss Mennonites over 150 years ago.

You will discover Old World hospitality, horse-drawn Amish buggies, and authentic Swiss architecture nestled in the beautiful Wabash Valley.

You will enjoy unique specialty shops, area attractions and tours, including one of the largest Mennonite Churches in the United States.  You will also enjoy Swiss Heritage Village, a 22-acre pioneer village, drive among many Amish farms, recreational water fun, the area's finest golf course, and the Limberlost  home of famed author Gene Stratton-Porter.  Just a short distance from the home is the last covered bridge on the historic Wabash River.  Our distinction as the "furniture capital of Indiana" is evident in our furniture stores and the thriving Smith Brothers Furniture Company of Berne.
